Anna Cubed is a single or multiplayer implementation of the card game Solo.
It's written in Java and has been tested on Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux,
Solaris, and Mac OSX. You can play a single player game against a bunch of bots,
or play over a network or the internet with some friends. You don't need 3
friends to get a game going, though - any free spaces will be filled with
bots.
Anna Cubed was a final year project of Ben Campbell, Daniel Piddock, & Alex Pounds while students at the Computing Laboratory of the University of Kent. To use it you'll need a Java 5 runtime - chances are you've got one already. Just download the jar file and double-click it. If it runs OK, you've got one. If not, visit Java.com and install what it suggests.
You may know Solo already, but we'd encourage you to look at The Rules of Solo we used to implement the game. There's also the Technical Report we wrote for the project; section 5 has some "How to use Anna Cubed" documentation that'll help you get going.
If you have any problems with it, it's probably best to get in touch with me. I'll see if I can help you get it going. We'd also love to hear any feedback you have.
