Gift List

Updated 2004-12-09

Christmas is coming, and the goose is getting fat. If you're feeling generous enough to want to buy me something, then this list of current desires will hopefully inspire you. That's what it's here for - I like surprises, so these should be seen as inspiration, not demands. Deviate from the list as much as you like.

Books

The only book I'm really after is Basic Photographic Materials and Processes. You can read a rave review of this book at photo.net.

DVDs

The Black Books box set is very tempting. I've just noticed that Frasier Season 3 is available, too. That's about it in terms of DVD for now, though.

Photographic stuff

Probably best to hold off on photographic stuff for the time being - I should be getting a new camera soon, so I'd hate to get anything and then find it's not suitable.

Guitar

If you're feeling somewhat generous, a Gibson SG Special would be lovely.

I've also been keeping an eye on some nice closed-back Sennheiser headphones.

Geek stuff

I'm currently considering putting together a Shuttle system that would run Solaris 9, Solaris 10, and Linux. The main reason is so I can do my Solaris Certification exam, and have something to play about with. Anyway, it would be a Shuttle SN41G2 with a Athlon XP 2200+ processor (actually, I'd upgrade my main PC with this and let the new machine use the chip currently in it), and 512Mb of DDR RAM. It'll also have 2 40Gb Seagate Barracuda hard disks and a cheap DVD +-R/RW drive. If you wanted to contribute to this project, it's probably best to get in touch with me first and make sure that yes, I'm definitely planning to go ahead with building this system, as I'm still not sure.

Attire

I'd like one of these nethack T-shirts, but they've only got XL ones, and I'm a medium. So boo. The Chicks Dig Unix shirt is quite nifty, in a geeky way.

Miscellaneous trinkets

The traser glowring is both shiny and geeky, making it desireable.
