Below you can see examples of some of the websites I've had a hand in creating.
The Kent Union website, now sadly defunct, was the first student-run and student-led website at Kent to be productive - and certainly the most useful website in recent memory at Kent. I was Website Working Group chair, which saw me overseeing the site from initial planning and development, through its opening months, and onward as it reached maturity. It got canned because it was such a massive project - the site needed a full time member of staff to look after it, and Kent Union couldn't afford one. Their current site is being provided by OnCampus.uk.
The site ran on Plone, itself running on Zope. It taught me a lot about Solaris, Apache, Zope, Plone, and Python as well as dealing with people and issues in a large organisation. It was certainly a learning experience.
This site was developed from scratch, and is essentially a
specialised content management system. The clients did not come from a technical
background, and so a web-based interface for maintaining the site was required.
It features a password-protected management interface allowing them to manage
their clients, properties, and articles on the site.
The visual design was done by Paul Haine.
